Position Paper Outline

Dear Delegates:

As you know, the major research and written work required of a delegate PRIOR to competing in Global Classrooms is the Position Paper. Since the position paper is completed as a delegation (or as a pair), you have to decide WHO in the pair does WHAT. For example, you can do the whole worksheet together, or split it into parts and discuss with one another - that’s up to you!

• Now that you have practiced writing a Personal Position paper, we will outline the actual paper we are using for the conference.
• An outline is an essential part of a research paper, because 1) it helps you organize your ideas, and 2) is a skeleton for the paper you will write afterward!

Instructions:

1. For each section, list relevant facts and statistics that you would include in your position paper about the topic and your country.
2. For each section, indicate which sources you used to find your information (on this outline, you can simply include the link, we will create the full citation later)
3. Bring a printed copy to class on Monday, December 4. You MUST bring it to class. Only 1 completed outline is needed per delegation.

Assignment 3: Getting to Know Your Country

        As we discussed in class last week, each delegation is required to conduct research on their specific country. While you will work with your partner to research, each person is responsible for completing their own "Getting to Know Your Country" sheet.

Here is the 2 Page Getting to Know Your Country sheet.

1. While all the research you gather is important, I especially want you to focus on finding information on page 2 (United Nations). 

Be sure you have detailed answers to these questions:
- What do you think this nation´s position on the topic of debate will be? Why?
- Try to find at least one recent article that is about or makes reference to this nation.
- What are 4 problems that affect this nation?

REMEMBER: At the end of each section (Government, People, Development, Economy, etc) be sure to cite the source that you use. IF YOU DO NOT CITE SOURCES YOU WILL GET A ZERO.

Assignment 2: Personal Position Paper

Dear Esteemed Delegates,

One of your most important tasks as a delegation in Global Classrooms is to master the art of the Position Paper. Right now, however, I am sure it must feel like a daunting task. To gain more familiarity with this kind of writing, you are asked to write a Personal Position paper - one about yourself! Assignment One: Country Research

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the United Nations!! 👐👐

With your partner, you are going to be delegates of a specific country within the United Nations. Your first task is research and present the country that you have been assigned. Please, post below the country that you have been given, as well as the names of your countries delegates (you and your partner). E.g. Spain: Sara Martín, Andrea Fuentes (3E)
